Wine Grapes

The University of Nevada Reno and Frey Ranch launch an experiment to grow wine grapes in the valley as an alternative crop that uses less water than alfalfa. Today, Churchill Vineyards is the only Estate Winery in Nevada. It is still researching varietals that excel in the valley. Some believe the grapes can be as good as those grown in the Napa Valley because of the temperature swings and altitude that create a high sugar content.
